East Cleveland Police Chief Brian Gerhard says he has been suspended from his position following the discovery of memes he shared that some are calling anti-Semitic, homophobic, and racist.

Gerhard denies allegations that he is a Nazi sympathizer and says that the memes were simply "a bad taste at humor."

Reports say the memes in question were all sent before Gerhard became police chief in August of 2022.

Officials in East Cleveland are preparing to launch an investigation into the situation.

East Cleveland Mayor Brandon King says they have a zero-tolerance policy for this sort of thing.
