The Guardians dropped their season finale to the Tigers 5-2 in Detroit. Lucas Giolito earned the loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits over five innings. Tyler Freeman slugged a solo homer while Brayan Rocchio also drove in a run. Cleveland lost two of three games to Detroit and finished the regular season 76-and-86. The Tigers leapfrogged Cleveland to finish second in the AL Central while the Guardians settled for third place. Meanwhile, manager Terry Francona confirmed his retirement over the weekend. He ended with the most wins by a manager in Cleveland history with 921.
