Fatal Crash Involving a Semi-Truck in Elyria Leaves 2 Dead

Cleveland, OH - Elyria police responded to a traffic accident on State Route 57, just south of N. Abbey Rd., around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning. A semi-truck with trailer was being driven by 57-year-old Kenneth Burdick, of Lorain, northbound on SR 57. Burdick lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and went into the southbound lanes. The semi-truck hit a Dodge Caravan traveling southbound. Two people in the minivan, the driver and passenger, were deceased upon arrival of police and medical personnel.

The trailer of the semi-truck then struck two other cars. Both drivers of those vehicles were taken to University Hospital Medical Center for their injuries. The Elyria Police department has not released the names of any other people involved at this time so their families can be notified.

No charges have been filed yet as the investigation is ongoing.
