CDC Interactive Map Shows Most of NE Ohio Has "Moderate" Transmission Rate

(Cleveland) - An interactive map created by the US Centers for Disease Control shows county-by county the COVID-19 transmission rates across the nation. The CDC recommended Tuesday that in areas with the highest transmission rates, even the vaccinated should wear face masks in indoor public places. That does not apply to most of Northeast Ohio.

According to the county-by-county breakdown, every county in Greater Cleveland (Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Medina, and Lorain Counties) and Greater Akron (Summit and Portage Counties) is ranked as "moderate," the second lowest level. The only Northeast Ohio counties ranked "substantial" are Ashland, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. Columbiana County is the only one in Northeast Ohio at "high," the highest transmission rate.

Ohio as a whole ranks "moderate." Primarily in the nation's south, some states have every county ranked "high."
