CLEVELAND - The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Cleveland is celebrating National Homeownership Month in June. Highlighting the celebration is the HBA’s Summer Parade of Homes starting this weekend.

The Parade showcases 20 New Homes, and 14 professional home builders and admission is FREE. Some of the home tours are in person and others are virtual. Styles include contemporary urban townhomes, luxury villas, traditional craftsman, sprawling ranches and the popular modern farmhouse.

HBA President Mike Kandra says, “The Parade gives consumers an opportunity to visit a variety of new homes and interview prospective builders. This year’s homes range in price from $284,000 to $1.7 million.”

The model homes are in seven different counties throughout northeast Ohio including Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, and Portage Counties .Communities on the Tour are geographically diverse, from Sheffield Lake in the west, to Brecksville in the south, and east in Concord. New homes are built to accommodate today’s busy lifestyles - open floor plans, flexible spaces, low-maintenance, and other amenities that make them more appealing.

HBA Executive Director Brenda Callaghan adds, “Having a place to call home builds a sense of community among many other benefits – including the ability to help build personal wealth. ”Research shows that most households still view housing as a good investment in comparison to the stock market. According to a recent study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, when asked whether a young couple should buy a primary residence or invest in the stock market more than 90% of the survey respondents chose housing.

Many homeowners count on their home equity to fund retirement, their children’s education, and other needs. Owning a home represents a big part of the American Dream and provides a solid foundation for families in communities.

Although lumber and other product prices soared this past year, interest rates remain extremely low, so the housing market remains hot.

The HBA Parade of Homes is sponsored by 84 Lumber. Consumers should visit HERE for a list of the homes and directions. Visitors can also download the FREE mobile app, HBA CLE PARADES on their smart phone or tablet and view all the homes in the Parade.
