Police Blotter: "Ding Dong Ditch" In Bay Village

From the Bay Village Police Blotter:

On June 15, 2020 at 10:23pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Saddler Road on report of criminal mischief. Police spoke to the homeowner who reported that someone had been playing “Ding Dong Ditch” at his home earlier in the evening. This is consistent with numerous other similar calls over the previous few days concerning multiple juveniles and numerous victims. When a Bay officer found one of the juvenile suspects, the youngster lied about his name and the names of his associates. It was later determined through an investigation his true identity and those of his friends. Each parent was made aware of the situation and will handle discipline of their children.

On June 16, 2020 Bay Village Police responded to the 30000 block of Winsor Road on report of a stolen vehicle. Police arrived and spoke with the homeowner who reported that someone had stolen his 2007 Lexus from the driveway in the overnight hours. The homeowner admitted that the vehicle was unlocked and that the keys were left in the vehicle. In addition, police took numerous Theft from Auto reports in the western half of the city. In each case, items were taken from unlocked automobiles. Bay Village Detectives are investigating. Residents are encouraged to report theft from auto reports even if nothing or inconsequential items are taken and to please lock your vehicles and homes.

On June 17, 2020 at 3:15pm, Bay Village Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bradley Road on report of a theft of lawn equipment. Police arrived and found that the homeowner had left his leaf blower unattended in his front yard near the sidewalk. When the homeowner returned outside 15 minutes later, the equipment was gone. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.
