Narcotics, Money and Guns Recovered by U.S. Marshals in Akron

Akron - Tuesday afternoon, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force were looking for a shooting suspect when they recovered narcotics, money and various firearms.

During the course of the investigation into a shooting which occurred in Cuyahoga Falls the night before, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 200 East Waterloo Road in Akron.

Upon speaking with the driver, 25-year-old Stefan Okai, it was found that he was driving with a suspended license. Further search of the vehicle led officers to recover a pistol, a pound of marijuana and $15,000 in U.S. currency.

20-year-old James Garlock was arrested at the scene for firearms violations and 26-year-old Damaire Davis was arrested for drug violations.

Additionally, a search warrant was conducted by members of the NOVFTF and the Akron Police Department in the area of 2100 Penguin Drive in Coventry, a home that is tied to Darmaire Davis.

During the search of the home another $55,000 in U.S. currency was recovered, along with 16 pounds of marijuana, over 1,100 pills of suspected fentanyl and two more handguns.

A vehicle was also recovered from the residence, along with high dollar jewelry, both suspected to be purchased with drug sale proceeds.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Three firearms, and hundreds of doses of lethal narcotics are now off the streets due to the hard work and dedication of the members of the task force.Our teams, along with our local and federal partners, will work day and night to be sure the residents of our communities are kept safe from dangerous men and women who pedal in narcotics and directly jeopardize the safety of our community.”
