U.S. Marshals Arrest Man Accused of Murdering Two People on I-90 in 2018

Cleveland - U.S. Marshals have arrested double murder suspect Gianni Gray Tuesday afternoon.

Gray was wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cleveland Division of Police for multiple charges including 2 counts of murder. The charges stemmed from an incident in July of 2018 in which Gray opened fire with an assault rifle on a vehicle in broad daylight at the West 117th ramp of I-90 in Cleveland. As a result, 2 victims died and a 3rd was struck with non-fatal wounds.

Since July of 2018, U.S. Marshals followed leads throughout the United States to include Florida and Michigan.

In December of 2018, U.S. Marshals in Detroit narrowly missed Gray after he fled out of a moving vehicle.

Recently, members of the Cleveland Police, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force worked together to development new information as to Gray’s whereabouts. Investigators followed those leads to a home near 121st Street and Union Avenue in Cleveland.

Gray was arrested along with an associate, 36-year-old Rodney Blane Harper. Harper was arrested for Parole Violations. Officers also recovered 3 firearms at the scene, one of which was a machine gun.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, “Gianni Gray has been distancing himself from law enforcement for too long. This investigation was led by a Cleveland Police Sergeant assigned to our task force who vowed to never give up on this case.
