Bay Village Police Blotter: Drug Trafficker Walks, Then Arrested

On Tuesday June 4, 2019 at 2:07am, Bay Village Police stopped a vehicle on Dover Center Road near West Oviatt Road for a moving traffic violation. Officers spoke with the male operator, a 20 year-old Strongsville resident where it was discovered that the operator was driving with a suspended driver’s license. The male operator (cited and released by officers) left the scene, walking to a nearby relative’s house.Officers began the tow inventory of the vehicle when they discovered numerous containers with illegal drugs inside. Further, a loaded handgun was found inside of the vehicle. A warrant was issued for the male who was picked up by BVPD later that day.

The male was charged with Trafficking in Drugs and Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle. He was transferred to Cuyahoga County Jail to face charges at Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

On Tuesday June 4, 2019 at 8:36am, Bay Village Police received a call from the 26000 block of Knickerbocker Road reporting a theft of tools from a from work van. In all, over $500 in tools were taken. Bay Village Detectives are investigating.

As the weather warms, we traditionally see an increase in the number of Theft from Auto reports. Please take the time to lock your vehicles, remove valuables from view and to call if you see anything suspicious.

On Thursday June 6, 2019 at 9:32pm, an off duty officer called BVPD to report a possible drunk driver entering Bay Village from Rocky River. Police caught up to the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Dover Center for a moving traffic violation. Police spoke with the male operator, a 31 year-old, North Olmsted resident. The operator failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A female passenger, a 21 year-old Cleveland resident was cited for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. On station, the male refused to submit to a breath test. They are both facing charges in Rocky River Municipal Court.
