OVI, SR 91: February 1 st , 2019 at 1:51 AM. Solon Police Dispatch received a call of a vehicle eastbound on US 422 driving “all over the road”. The vehicle was observed exiting 422 and turning north on SR 91. As the vehicle made the turn it crossed over the white lane markings. The vehicle was followed northbound before turning around and proceeding southbound. The vehicle was stopped after committing additional traffic violations. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected even as the driver chewed gum. When questioned the driver denied drinking any alcohol. The driver, identified as Tracy M. Alexander, 52 from Twinsburg was found to be impaired and arrested. She was transported to the Solon Correction Center where she was offered and refused to perform the breath test. Tracy was charged with Marked Lanes and OVI. Her driver’s license was suspended immediately.

OVI, Cannon Rd.: February 3rd, 2019 at 12:02 AM. A patrol officer on patrol observed a vehicle eastbound on Cannon Rd. in the area of Hawthorn Pkwy. traveling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was clocked at 64 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone. The vehicle was stopped east of Hawthorn Pkwy. While speaking with the driver the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and the driver was slurring her speech while talking. When asked how much she had to drink, the driver Brooke Ann Marie Schwartz, 22 years old of Solon stated “not a lot, socially”. Tests indicated that she was impaired. She was arrested and transported to the Solon Correction Center where she submitted to a breath test with a reading of .162. She was charged with speeding, OVI and prohibited BAC.

OVI, Aurora Rd: February 3 rd , 2019 at 1:53 AM.A patrol officer ran a registration check on a vehicle and discovered that the license plate had expired in 2018. The vehicle was stopped on Aurora Rd. While the officer was speaking with the driver, Jake Valadez, 27 of Cleveland, a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Valadez admitted to drinking a “few beers downtown” before driving a friend home in Solon. After performing field testing, it was determined that Mr. Valadez was impaired. He was arrested and transported to the Solon Correction Center. He submitted to a breath test with a reading of .114. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a vape loaded with a marijuana cartridge. He was charged with Expired Plates, OVI, Prohibited BAC and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft 29605 Aurora Rd.: February 3 rd , 2019 at 8:20 AM : Solon Police Officers were dispatched to Circle K to investigate a theft. Investigation revealed that a male had entered the store and requested 2 cartons of cigarettes. After the clerk placed the cigarettes on the counter the suspect then asked for an additional item resulting in the employee turning their back. The suspect grabbed the cigarettes and exited the store without paying. A suspect has been identified and a warrant has been issued.

Counterfeiting/Theft: February 4 th , 2019 at11:57 AM: Solon Police received a complaint from an Aurora Resident who works in Solon that she had received counterfeit money. The victim reported that she had listed a ring on Let it Go website for sale. She had communicating with a male who expressed interest in purchasing the ring. A price was agreed upon and the victim met with the buyer. The buyer gave her 3 fifty dollar bills and 1 twenty dollar bill and the transaction was completed. Later when the victim attempted to deposit the money into her bank account she discovered that the 3 fifty dollars bills were clearly marked “Motion Picture use Only” and were not legal tender. The detective bureau is working the case and has a possible suspect.
