On 1/26/19 at about 4pm an officer stopped a vehicle on Detroit Rd in the area of Settlers Reserve for suspicious activity as well as an equipment violation. The operator, a 36yo female Westlake resident, was found to be driving under suspension. There was also a fictitious temporary plate on her vehicle. The male passenger was uncooperative and would only identify himself as “Morrocan.”After debating with the officer, the passenger fled the area on foot. This was not a wise decision for 2 reasons: 1) there was snow on the ground which allowed for relatively easy tracking by the human officers and 2) the officer who stopped the vehicle had his K9 partner with him who was more than willing to find a person running from the police.Needless to say, the passenger, a 40 yo from Cleveland, was located approx. 8 minutes later. He was taken into custody and was found in possession of suspected heroin. An inventory of the car revealed that the pair also had narcotic pills. The female was charged with felony drug trafficking and possession along with several traffic related charges. She also had outstanding warrants for theft and forgery for her arrest. The male half was charged with felony trafficking and possession of drugs along with resisting arrest and obstruction.

On 1/29/19 at approx. 3PM WPD received a call from staff at the Westlake Village Retirement Community reporting that the husband of one of the residents had made threats about shooting an oncologist caring for his wife.Officers responded and interviewed witnesses and the victim physician who was not at the facility at the time. The medical facilities involved and the officers took the threats seriously. The male was located at his home in North Olmsted and was taken into custody without incident. He was later charged with Aggravated Menacing and a Temporary Protection Order was issued by Rocky River Municipal Court.

On 1/31/19 at approx. 7:45P officers responded to Bar Louie for a report of a male who was in and out of consciousness. The 26yo from Norwalk appeared intoxicated and became argumentative with the officers.Witnesses on scene reported that the male was known to use heroin and it was confirmed that he had an entered warrant for a drug related probation violation. The male was placed into custody for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. He was transported to the hospital and released to medical staff with a court date to appear.
