  1. Republicans joined President Trump for a victory lap after Congress passed the big GOP tax bill on Wednesday. Passage of the massive tax package is the President's first major legislative achievement and he calls it the largest tax cut in history. AT&T announced it is paying a one-thousand-dollar bonus to more than 200,000 of its U.S. employees. It also said it would increase capital spending in the U.S. by a billion-dollars. The company is making good on promises it made if "competitive" tax reform was passed. Will the new tax law create more jobs in America?
  2. It’s a Merry Christmas for Fifth Third bank employees. The company announced plans to raise its minimum hourly wage for all employees to $15, and distribute a one-time bonus of $1,000 for more than 13,500 employees. The actions are in appreciation for the commitment employees show in supporting customers and building stronger communities. Fifth Third President and CEO Greg Carmichael said, “the tax cut allowed the Bank the opportunity to reevaluate its compensation structure and share some of those benefits with its talented and dedicated workforce.” The one-time $1,000 bonus is expected to be distributed by the end of the year. Do you think more companies will follow suit and raise their minimum wage to $15 an hour?
  3. People Magazine reports Pregnant Khloé Kardashian‘s boyfriend Tristan Thompson could not stop expressing his love for the future mother of his child on Wednesday. After Kardashian confirmed she’s expecting their first child with an Instagram post, the Cleveland Cavaliers power forward, 26, responded to his girlfriend, 33, in the comments section, initially writing, “My love, thank you for [allowing] me to be a part of your journey in life and allowing to share this moment with you this is something [I’ll] always cherish. Girl you look better now.” What are your thoughts about Tristan being now being tied to the Kardashians for life?

  8. It could resemble a scene from the thriller movie “The Birds” by Alfred Hitchcock if ever used in combat. South Korea is building a force of military drones that could target North Korea. A South Korean military official recently said the combat unit is expected to become operational sometime next year and the small weaponized drones could attack the North's missile, nuclear or other military targets in swarms. Could you imagine thousands of drones being used in a military maneuver?
  9. Dateline: The United Kingdom. A mother took to the UK social forum “Mumset” to complain about a woman who was sunbathing topless at a pool in front of her kids at a family vacation resort. Is it OK for women to go topless in front of children who are not her own?
  10. The French government will ban students from using mobile phones in the country’s primary, junior and middle schools at the start of the next school year. Reports say that children will be allowed to bring their phones to school, however they will not allowed to use them until they leave, even during breaks. The French education minister said the ban was also a “public health message to families”, adding: “It’s good that children are not too often, or even at all, in front of a screen before the age of seven.” Do you agree with the French government's efforts?
