Child Found Dead At Vacant Home On Notorious Street

(Cleveland) - Cleveland police said Wednesday they had exhausted all their leads trying to identify the body of a 4 year-old child found in some bags in the yard of a vacant home.  The remains were found on September 20 on Longmead Avenue - the same street where a dismembered body was found earlier in the year.  Police said Wednesday the two cases were first thought to be related, but investigators have since determined that not to be the case.  The boy's cause of death has not been released, but Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Gilson said the death is "extremely suspicious."

Forensics confirmed that the remains are male, but the boy's ethnicity has not been determined, according to Gilson.  The boy's age was an estimate, based on the state of the skeleton.  The boy's remains were discovered in bags by landscapers, and based on their condition, police said the boy likely went missing in the early summer.

However, police have searched every database they have access to and have been unable to find any missing children who would match the boy's description.  They're asking for anyone with information, no matter how small, to call the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office Investigative Unit at (216)721-5610 and press option #1, or, the Cleveland Police Department Homicide Unit at (216)623-5464.

Chief Williams said "even if you have not reported a family member as 'missing,' please consider contacting our office if this decedent fits the description of someone you are related to or someone you have not seen recently."
